Dell Dimension 8300 / Pentium 4 / 3Ghz / Windows XP Home / 512RAM

When in Explorer.exe, right-clicking on programs or items caused the
hourglass to appear and suspend indefinitely. One has to bring up Task
Manager to "end task" as folder is "Not responding".

Dr. Watson Postmortem Debugger appears so as to send an error message to
Microsoft quoting in the "details" link:

ERROR SIGNATURE

szAppName: explorer.exe szAppVer : 6.0.2900.2180 szModName : hungapp
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset: 00000000

This error only began upon uploading XP SP2.

This problem as it drives me nuts daily! Anybody with the knowledge to beat
this problem?

Many thanks,

I found my own solution with the help of the other postings on this Knowledge
Base.

And I think I finally have it this time.

With the help of a program called ShellExView:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

.... I was able to isolate the NAUGHTY file.

The file was: c:program Files\divx\dr.divx\encodedivext.dll

I hope this helps someone else...

CapFlu,

You were on the right track, and glad you found the culprit. For right-click
crashes and delays:
