Explorer exe won't launch workaround

Hello.

I had a problem with explorer.exe not launching on startup (only black screen with mouse cursor), so I got a new one from another working system. I copied it into win folder, renamed it "explorer1.exe" and changed the winlogon registry entry for it.

Now my windows boots and explorer works.

However just when it launches it starts blinking like crazy (process probably starting, getting killed, getting started...) and it keeps doing this until I hit task manager. After that everything works fine and there is no issue.

I tried changing the file+registry back to the original, but then I get the black screen issue again.

So I wonder if anyone can help me fix this, my guess is that some other process is blocking explorer.exe from working through registry, because it does't work at all when it's named "explorer". I won't boot, and it won't launch through cmd.

I really wanne solve this instead of this lazy workaround, I sincerly hope anyone can help me. :)

EDIT: Also I guess I should add that running "explorer.exe -r" works to open my documents. So explorer works, it just won't launch desktop.

EDIT2: I have removed all non-windows programs from the startup menu. Launching in Safe Mode gives me the error "the instruction at XXX referenced memory at ZZZ could not be written".
