If I open a folder in Explorer then return to the previous location, the selected folder is moved to the bottom of the window. If anything, I'd like it to be moved to the top of the window.

Is there any way to change this behavior?

This isn't about folder/file ordering, it's about the way the window scrolls when navigating into a folder and then back out to its parent. If you look at the illustration I provided, you will see that

1) is the scroll position of the window when the folder is initially selected
2) is the contents of the folder shown after opening/double-clicking
3) is the window's scroll position after returning to its parent (hitting the back button)

This means that if you're exploring the contents of every folder in a directory one by one, you have to scroll the window down every time you back out of one. It gets *really* annoying after a few minutes of doing this, when the task would be made much easier by either

a) not scrolling the window automatically at all
b) scrolling it so the selected folder is at the *top* and folders below it are immediately accessible without having to manually scroll to see them
