Windows has always liked opening new Windows Explorer windows in random places on my desktop.

Does anyone know of a Windows Explorer toolbar button (or system tray icon) that moves current window to certain position (that I set) on my display?

In my own experience, the first window opened will typically open in the last position it was in before being closed. After that it can be a crapshoot based on the first windows position, and have yet to find a way to make a third one open somewhere sensical, so I feel your pain.

I have it set for my first to open in the bottom left quad of the screen. The second one opens above that. Typically, the third will open pretty much centered, but not always. I have yet to figure the rhyme or reason to it, so good luck. Maybe we can both learn something.

You're right.

The issue is that I always want my first window to be at the bottom-right.

If I do that, but then open a second window (which usually defaults to the top-left) and close the first window first (then the second), when I open a new window, it will not be back at the bottom-right. It's annoying.

There are Extensions for Chrome (e.g., Window Resizer) that I can place in the Chrome window itself that, upon a mouse click, will move that window (and adjusts it's size) to something I like. I want the same for Explorer (though size is less of an issue).

If you're using Win11, then i have no clue.
But on my Win10, at that position where i dragged the explorer window and closed it last, it will re-open on the very same position it was closed.

For some reason, follow up windows open ontop of old one, but a bit down-right position. They all open this way, and once new window hits task bar, next one pops open at the very top of the screen.

Oh, i'm using custom Win10 GUI, that makes my desktop look like Win7. :sol: Maybe this is the reason why my windows open up in a such neat order. 🤔
