Have a buddies PC, connected to my wireless router, that works perfectly, but
cannot get any web pages or broswe at all, used Kellys winsock repair utility
no help, cleaned up some malware still no help, running SP2

Also cannot connect to any instant messengers or receive emails through
outlook express

Are you running a firewall?
Is DHCP enabled on both the router and the PC?
Can you ping the router from the PC?

Have you defined the gateway for this system? It's typically the ip address
of your router.

In addition to the good advice to check the gateway, check the DNS
settings on your friend's computer. Either set them to automatic or use
yours. You can also try:

Start>Run>cmd [enter]
ipconfig /flushdns [enter]
