Extend wifi from an ethernet port

My wifi isn't strong enough to reach all over the house. However, I have an ethernet socket in one of my other rooms.

I want to plug something in there to extend my wifi.

I've read through this but didn't understand it completely: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/36406-43-convert-wireless-router-wireless-access-point?_ga=1.263558988.1718661549.1485861256

So basically I either want to:

1 - Get a wifi extender and plug it into the ethernet socket and get the signal through the wire to send out rather than pick up the existing wifi signal to send out.

2- Plug a second router into the wall and do the same thing as in 1.

I don't have either at the moment, but a wifi extender would be smaller.

Would that work?

Thanks! I've had a look at it and it's a bit out of my price range. Do you think something like this would do the same job?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Coredy-Extender-Access-External-Antennas/dp/B01BDC74Q6/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1485866421&sr=8-10&keywords=wifi+access+point

Not really. This extends the signal by repeating the signal. It will half your bandwidth and double the latency. It doesn't use ethernet back to your router.

It says that it works with wired connections though:

"CREATE A NEW WIFI NETWORK: In Access Point (AP) mode, it can be connected to any wired LAN to create a new Wi-Fi Access point, allowing the internet connection to be accessed from laptops, tablets, phones or other Wi-Fi devices"

Go for it, I missed that bit. I would imagine you get what you pay for!

Thanks. As I don't know about these things I was just a bit confused as to whether it would work for what I want or not!
