Hello everyone!

I have seen this question many times and I still don't think a full answer has been found for my scenario. I am trying to use two external monitors as extended displays and not cloned displays. I currently have only a single HDMI port available on my laptop. I do not have VGA, DVI, or DisplayPort whatsoever, and I have no USB slots available.

My current setup:

Razer Blade Laptop Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M

External Monitor x2: ASUS VS239H-P 23" Full HD 1920x1080 IPS HDMI DVI-D VGA Back-lit LED Monitor
-Intel HD Graphics 4600

I found the following item, but am not sure of the validity of it:
http://www.thruthewireusa.com/Displayport-to-2-HDMI-Splitter.html

If this item is real and not some sort of scam, would it be possible to use an 'HDMI to DisplayPort' cable out of my laptop's HDMI port into this splitter and have it work the same as a direct 'DisplayPort to DisplayPort'?

Thank you!

If that DP to HDMI device is using MST(and your device supports it) it may in fact work as advertised.

Displayport supports daisy chaining devices. So having 3 screens on 1 DisplayPort connector is not unheard of. and width is a limit clearly.

Please note that performance of USB based display devices is not always that great. I guess you are kind of limited because of the computer.

EDIT
I just check out the video and it seems to work like the Dual/tripple head devices from Matrox. This is an interesting device actually and may not even use MST instead it makes your operating system see one large screen for extended mode.

So is the item through 'thruthewireusa' a hoax? Or will it simply not work for me because it requires a DisplayPort input?

Followup questions then:

As said, my USB ports are all taken up, for example my mouse and headset alike run through USB. It seems my only logical option for a second display is to also run it through USB meaning I need one more USB port.

If I were to plug my second monitor directly into a USB on the laptop.. is there a USB splitter I could plug in my second port that would allow me to simultaneously have my mouse and headset running?

This was the old Matrox solution before multi output video cards became so common. You could get 2 or 3 output models that showed up as a single large screen.

The extended mode may not work well with some full screen programs since it will look like a single screen. Matrox had software to combat this.
