I used cables from From PSU and extended it with another brand cable and used it for 3years then got burnt in the pin between PSU and motherboard.what the question?

Yeah, i just realize it. Anyways is my motherboard and psu fry? Even if between Motherboard and psu wires that burnt? You seem to have found out why they are not recommended
Itried swapping the original wires from PSU, its working and still booting up but Im affraid using it. Im worried for my motherboard. I dont know if I can still use it the same way. Because I didnt check it properly. When I see he boot up. I off again then I decide getting new PSU and still waiting for the item to come so I can check it properly. I’m not sure either ram, cpu and the rest from motherboard working the same way.Is the PC still working, not that I want you to fire it up with the burnt cable. I would pull out the extension and test the power supply not hooked up to motherboard with a volt meter.
I would if mine just pull that power supply and replace and test system without crispy in the mix.
did the pc shut off by itself it the extension cable start to burn? if not, sound like just
It didn’t shutdown, I only off the PC because of the smell, then after i turn off the PC Itry tracing the burn smell. That’s where I found the cable that got burnt and the burnt is easy to notice because the wire was white and the pins from PSU to motherbord is a bit melt.did the pc shut off by itself it the extension cable start to burn? if not, sound like just the cable.
Can you show photos of the damage? That’s where I found the cable that got burnt and the burnt is easy to notice because the wire was white and the pins from PSU to motherbord is a bit melt.

I see, thank you for your suggestion. Next time Ill try to do that.Hello. You are not alone who experienced this. I threw away 4 pin CPU sleeved extension from Asiahorse for the same reason recently.
It was always hot since the day I installed it. But it was reasonably hot till I overclocked my CPU. That day I felt distinctive smell of plastic. When I touched this extension, it was so hot that I could not keep my fingers on it.
I removed it and connected PSU to CPU using the original ASUS PSU cable.
These extentions are dirt cheap. I do not doubt they cut corners very hard on these.
There is a life lesson: when you first install these, touch them. Touch them while stressing your PC. If any of these feels hot, do not wait till they burn, replace them.
There is something else that I am suspecting too. I am not an expert but some people say these cables need to be the same gauge for stable work. Well, these extentions are probably the thinnest international standards allow.
Could this also contribute to the problem? Maybe.
It’s a Phanteks sleeved cable. What brand extension cables are those?
So we know, what to avoid.
Whenever troubleshooting PC problems, the most logical way is to narrow down to one item causing the problem. It was literally this one Asiahorse extension. Once I excluded it, there were no cables heating up.I see, thank you for your suggestion. Next time Ill try to do that.
And did you still use your PSU? After that? I’m a bit scared using the PSU again or should I use it and change the cable only?
