USB is 5V DC. Wall is 120V AC. Not going to happen without an extremely inefficient power inverter. You'd need a external power pack that is designed to output 12V DC directly to the laptop. No 3 prong.

It seems I can't reply to you in the mobile version, but I have a different question. Does that mean that there is no way to charge a laptop or its battery from an external battery with 5v DC and 3.1 amp output?
