Hey All! I have a Dell Optiplex 3080 USFF machine which seems to detect 2 different USB-connected external CD/DVD drives when they are connected. They show up as drives in File Explorer and as devices in Device manager.
However, no matter what I try, Windows does not seem able to actually read the discs. I've tried both devices on another system, and they both work fine on that system.
I've been through the suggested troubleshooting steps at https://windowsreport.com/windows-10-doesnt-recognize-cd-drive/, and I've also tried using both Media Player and VLC.
I've also tried different USB ports, and have run the Dell optical drive troubleshooter (which passed), and the Windows troubleshooter (which detected no problems). I'm totally flumoxed. I'd really prefer to not have to rebuild Windows on the machine as I have lots of things setup on it.
Anyone got any ideas?
