Hi guys! I have a Seagate BUP Slim BK 1 TB external drive. It's like a couple of weeks old and was able to store all of my important files in it.

Now just recently I reformatted my pc. After it was done, I hooked the Seagate disk up to my pc and I noticed it didn't make the usual sound when you connect a USB device. I checked windows explorer and the seagate external drive wasn't there. I checked device manager and it wasn't under the USB sections, it's under the disk drive sections. Is it supposed to be in there? I tried uninstalling the driver for it in device manager, but so far it only gets stuck on the Uninstalling part. I also tried going into safe mode, and when opened device manager, the seagate drive (under the disk drives section in device manager) had a yellow exclamation point, saying that the device will not work in safe mode or something (forgot the exact wording).

I've also been checking disk management and it wasn't there either. Tried rescanning for drives, even in safe mode to no avail. When I check my system tray, it says Eject BUP Slim BK but when I click on it, nothing seems to happen.

I open control panel and go to devices and printers, it's there, but I can't seem to do anything with it, even when I click on remove device.

I forgot to mention, that after I reformatted my pc, and was installing some drivers, I connected my seagate external drive to my pc, and I accidentally nudged it off the table. The usb cable was short so one corner of the external drive hit the floor slightly, so it wasn't a hard fall. But could this be the cause of my problem? I've read that one option is to open the drive up and connect it to my pc as an internal drive through SATA. Is it safe?

Thanks in advance, really hoping you guys can help me sort this out, as all of my files are in that drive.

EDIT: I also tried hooking the external drive up to a different pc, and using a different usb cable, but that didn't work
