[SOLVED] External Display for Macbook Pro 2015 - HDMI to VGA

Hi,

How can I use an old CRT monitor that has VGA as an external display for Macbook Pro 2015? I got an HDMI-to-VGA adaptor, and it doesn't seem to work. The "Arrangement" tab in the "Display" window does not appear. Mac has two thunderbolt outputs, do I have to use a thunderbolt-to-VGA adaptor?

Adapter won't work if it's not an "active" one.

HDMI is a digital signal whereas VGA is analog. You therefore need the more expensive "active" adapter which is able to convert digital to analog. Like this one:
