External drive clicking, found in devise manager, but not in comp

My Passport external drive began clicking and then disappeared from my comp. I can see it in the devise mangaer.

When I went to my disk management, I can see the disk as not initialized. When attempting to initialize it tells me the files are write protected.

Just hoping there are some more things I can attempt to recover these files...much is at stake. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Sometimes the external enclosure fail, usually the circuit board that controls it. You could try removing the drive from its current enclosure and installing it in a desktop, or installing it into another external drive enclosure.
