Hello! I have a 1TB Seagate Backup Plus Slim Portable external drive, when I plug it into my laptop it doesn't appear inside file explorer, just my disk C: shows.
Strangely, when hopping to the Device Manager and expanding Disk Drives, it's indeed there.

Also, disk manager shows the external drive as a partition and the only options available when right-clicking on the partition are 'Delete Volume' and 'Help'

I have tried troubleshooting the device, updating the drivers, plugging it into a different USB port, plugging it into a different computer... no luck so far.

Below I attach a capture from the Disk Management and Device Manager windows.

Thank you in advance.

Right click on the volume, try adding/assigning a drive letter

Eventually use disk part for it
I can't use the option to assign a drive letter, when using diskpart, selecting the external disk and listing the volumes only the 200mb volume shows.

What? 931GB partition is clearly visible in your screenshot.
Right-click on it and choose "Change drive letter and Paths".

Use Disk Management (not diskpart) for this.

If the partition is bitlocked, then you'll need bitlocker recovery key for this.
I can see, you like using bitlocker on your C: partition.

Then it might be corrupted, try a recovery tool like pc inspector or similar
Other than that, if you can, disassemble the external drive and connect it internally to the motherboard
Probably, this was my first thought after trying all of the above. Will try with pc inspector. If that doesn't work I will simply delete the volume or buy a new external disk.

Thanks for your replies.
