external drive problem

when i plug in my external drive (1tb) western digital it runs smooth i can open and access files but when i right click it my computer will hang then windows explorer has stop will pop up .. please help i already formatted it via cmd but still the same?

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive.

The first thing you may want to do is to back up all the data stored on it. (if you have any)
After that, you can just run both short and extended DLG tests on it: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=E7hp05
The results should show if there is something wrong with the drive.

Is it under warranty?

Alright, just test it so you can see if there is something wrong with it.
Also, you can try the drive on another computer. See if the issue persists over there.
