I'm on a quest to find an external hard drive that may not exist. I am hoping to find a drive or enclosure that would allow the following:
1. USB 3 connectivity which would allow it to show as an attached drive for the purposes of cloud backup with Zoolz (you get unlimited backup for any internal or connected external drive)
2. Network connectivity that would provide access to the drive from anywhere on my home network, and possibly externally via a web interface

I know I could simply share the drive on my network via USB, but this will be connected to a laptop that I won't always have on or even attached to the drive. Ideally, I could always leave the drive at home and access necessary files remotely if needed.

Does anyone know if such a thing exists?
The closest thing I could find is the Buffalo LinkStation Duo NAS which has web access capability, but the USB port is only an "accessory" port, not for connecting the drive to a computer.

Thanks!

the network port requirement puts you squarely in NAS territory and I dont know of any NAS's that double as a usb drive beside the Lacie Ethernet disk mini which hasn't been made in some time.

You might want to look into a nas and a usb drive. Be sure to get a nas that can use the usb drive as storage and not just as a backup. Then you can just grab the usb drive when you want it or leave it attached to the NAS when you're on the go.
