I know this has been asked before but this case is a bit different. I am trying to get my Windows 10 OS to recognize some old IDE drives using a USB Mad Dog enclosure. The device loads as Cypress AT2LP and has the eject option available, but loads as an unrecognized mass storage device without a drive letter in my computer and doesn't appear at all in the Disk Management console. I tried switching the jumpers from none, to Master to Slave. Same behavior. So I drill down into the device properties and I see this: Device USB\VID_04B4&PID_6830\DEF10D12054A requires further installation.

I never saw this Cypress reference until I tried to use this enclosure with Windows 7 and higher. But now I absolutely need to recover files off these old drives and there seems to be a driver issue. Any thoughts? I checked for updated drivers and Windows is saying I have the best driver for the device...

Solution
Have go through this thread and download the files found in the bottom of the page. Once you open the .zip file locate the installer within Drivers folder and run installer in compatibility mode i.e under a Windows 7 platform.

Right click installer>Properties>Compatibility Tab>Windows 7/8 [from drop down menu]
