External ESATA port. what can i use it for?

so i just ordered a new pc case (really excited to get it, should arrive soon) but i just noticed it had an external ESATA and i was just wondering if i can use it for anything other than an external HDD.

Just because a case has an eSATA port, doesn't mean your motherboard has anything to connect to it...

Some NAS boxes can connect via eSATA.
That's about it.

It will operate anything that uses a SATA interface and has an eSATA connector. But the device will need to be externally powered. It was mainly intended for external hard drives before USB 2.0/3.0. eSATA is almost obsolete now, except for some professional workstations and such.
