Hi there,

I am using a HP Pavilion Elite 487d and I'm shocked to realize that the mother board is facing the right side instead of the usual left. This prevents me from making upgrades to the graphics card and I was wondering if an external graphics card reader would help for a high end graphics card ( ASUS 7970 Matrix Platinum ). I am open to any constructive suggestions so please help on my case.

Thanks :bounce:

Hello, first of all, can you post a picture of the inside of your computer so everyone could see the actual problem? Thanks.

Anyway, back to the question.
What type of "external graphic card" do you need? There is special interfaces for "hot-swapping" of graphic cards like Thunderbolt.
Or are you talking about the good old PCI-E extender cable like this one?

If that's the case, its easy, just buy a longer cable, wire it outside of your case, connect your GPU and tape it on your case, then connect everything else you will need. Also, there will be more airflow since the GPU would be right outside of your case which is a big plus.

Hope it helps!, :)
