As the title says I have accidentally dropped on the floor my Samsung M3 1TB hard disk. The first time I plugged it the computer did something weird because I couldn't access it but after removing it it started working again perfectly. It worked very well for one month but only lately I wrote to the hard disk. I wrote about 50-60 gb and and when I try to copy this last data it says 'error splicing file: input/output error'. I tested the drive with the samsung software and it says to request a RMA. Other tools show a very high Current Pending Sector Count like 2000 but Reallocated Sectors Count shows 0. Current Pending Sector Count increased from 297 to 2000 in one day. The hard disk is still under warranty but of course warranty doesn't cover this kind of damage.
My question is: if I request a RMA and they find out my hard disk fell on the ground what will happen? Will they tell me and send the damaged drive back to me or will they fix it and make me pay?
What should I do? Try with RMA or open it myself? What could be the problem anyways? [/code]
