Hi guys, i would like to know about my external hard drive model western digital my book essential 2TB.

The problem is when i switch on the power, the hard drive nothing happened.Normally the white led lights will come up after switching on the plug.I try the plug to my other external but it worked. For your information i never switch off the power since 1 year ago because i have forgotten

So i need help as my data inside hard drive is important , when i called the distributor they told me that they not repair the hard drive but they just exchange to the new one.I need this external hard drive.

Im affraid to open the casing as the warranty will void. But if you have any suggestion i will try it.What should i do?

Depending on what's more important... the cost or the data you'll need to decide for yourself.....
Getting the data out of that external drive is certainly going to void the warranty..... in which case you'll need to scrap this drive and get a new one
Getting it changed under it's warranty is going to make you loose all the data....
hence..... the dilemma
You say, you've tried tha adapter on another external drive and it works fine, right?
So that certainly points out to a fault within the hard drive enclosure.....

But if you're good with your hands , you can open up the enclosure , remove the HDD on the inside, Connect it straight to you PC's Mobo and recover the data, then you can close it all back up and send it for a warranty exchange after you've wiped it clean.

If the circuit has blown , what i need to do to recover the data ??? I heard some says we can change the PCB board.

No.... not the external hdd model, but the model of the hdd on the inside..... most probably you'll not be able to exchange the PCB's of those two since they are single disk models, meaning each has one hdd inside it, one being 1tb and the other being 2 tb ain't going to work.

Essentials models are encrypted. If you install the HDD inside your PC, the data will be gibberish. The USB-SATA bridge board is required to decrypt the data.

As for your warranty, contact WD's Tech Support and ask for permision to open the enclosure. They will probably say OK.

I would examine the following components on your HDD PCB:

The 12V TVS diode commonly goes short circuit after an overvoltage.

See http://www.users.on.net/~fzabkar/HDD/TVS_diode_FAQ.html

BTW, swapping boards will most likely not work. This is because each HDD PCB stores unique, drive specific data in flash memory. These "adaptive" data need to be transferred from patient to donor.

You need to fix the original bridge board, or replace it with the same bridge board, not just any USB-SATA converter.

Sometimes the fault on the bridge board can be repaired with two wire links. Alternatively, you could power the drive from a separate power supply and connect it to your bridge board's SATA data connector via a male-female extension cable.

If you can upload an image of your bridge PCB, I can try to help you with the repair.

http://postimg.org/image/8b0pk7wgr/ this is my bridge board...Only the power has the problem but i have western digital element 1Gb enclosure can i just transfer the 2tb hard disk to the 1tb enclosure ?

How can i power the drive from a separate power supply and connect to my bridge board ?

AIUI, the Elements bridge board won't decrypt your drive.

To power the drive from a separate PSU, disconnect the drive from your enclosure and connect it to the PSU in your PC via an appropriate cable.

Then run a SATA data cable between your enclosure and your drive. Connect the enclosure to your PC via a USB cable.

Doing the above assumes that your bridge board is still alive, and that its only problem is a failure in the dual MOSFET chip that switches power to the drive. To determine whether this is the case, I would need to see a clear, hi-res photo of the board.
