I had a 500GB western digital hard drive that fell of my desk and no longer worked. I opened it up and the electrical board between the hard drive and the usb cabel was cracked. So i put the hard drive in my computer as a slave. The drive shows up in my computer but when i try to open it it says the drive is not accessible. I tried to re format it in disk management but it also says the drive is not accessible. any ideas on what the problem is?

Re-check your cable connection to motherboard and to the HDD. At boot, open your BIOS settings, then look for the HDD tab/screen to verify the BIOS recognizes it. If it does not, you could try another cable from the motherboard to the HDD. If that still does not work, then the fall from your desk may have also damaged the internal HDD board, making the HDD unusable.
