Hello,

Whenever I try to back up my computer on an external hard drive, it shows that ' the back disk has a corrupted file system Fix it using the disk error checking tool .... '. I have tried this process and its still showing a similar error.. I haven't touched the external hard disk for 15 days and it was working fine when I used it the last time.

Also the transfer spees has drastically gone down from almost 25 mb/s to 175 kb/s. I cannot figure out why that's happening. Can somebody please help me

PS: I use windows vista and my external hard disk is 2tb hitachi

Thank You

It is always possible the ext drive is failing. If the drive has been corrupted, your backups are useless, but do a chkdsk /r on the drive, then you may have to format it and try using it again. And hopefully, you "safely remove" and do not arbitrarily ever just unplug the drive !
