Question External Hard Drive easy to broken?

I never have a problem with internal hard drive until now (even my 10 years old PC Internal Hard Drive still working) but 2 of my External Hard Drive are broken now...when plugged there is a weird beep sound and my PC doesnt recognize it. Is it just me? I use WD and Seagate brand and both of them die in like 2-3 years
