external hard drive files seems damaged

I have a external hard drive. i used to backup my files in it. now it seems that the data copied to it is not working. video files not working properly, it runs slowly with stuck. image files are become sort of colour faded other  some only seeing half of it. i wonder what happened to it. 

I tried to format it, but it seems the same. all the file copying to it become damaged. help me to fix it. please...‎

Since you've tried to reformat it, I'll assume that you don't need to recover any data from that drive, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
So what you should do is download the HDD manufacturer's diagnostic tool and run the tests to see if anything alarming pops-up and if the drive is healthy.
