It is a 640 Gb Samsung hard drive. When I plug it in nothing happens to the actual device. No mechanical sounds, no lights, and nothing on the PC... Any ideas?
If there are no lights or sound, I'd check to see if the power supply is working. Also, if this is a new drive, it won't show in windows until you use disk management to initialize (partition/format) the drive.

There is not powersupply... It is USB connected?
Also it is not new it used to work just fine
In this case, I'd try to use it on a different computer to see if it acts the same way. If it's still nonresponsive, I'd remove the drive from the enclosure and try slaving it in your PC. Of course this may not be able to be done if you are using a laptop, in which case you would need to find a PC to use.
