In changing a old external hard drive with a newer model of the same make, do I have to deleate the old hard drive program before I install the new soft ware?
An external drive typically just holds data/files. Software is not installed on it. Any programs/software you use, are installed on the PC's internal drive. Could you explain a little more what you are trying to do.

Iam replacing my old wd external hard drive with a new wd model. Do I have to deleate the old wd program before installing the new wd ex hard drive?
If it's a usb drive, you shouldn't have to do anything....just plug it in.
Although I imagine the old program is some sort of utilities for the old drive. You can probably uninstall that....and if there are utilities for the new drive you can install those.
