External Hard Drive Setup??

hey guys. ok, i know this is a stupid question, but i have never done this b4... im gonna get an external hard drive, like 500gb, to back up all my music, movies, pictures, and game files. how do i copy game files into my external, and will that enable me to copy them back onto a new comp hard drive later on after i install the games again? how does the backup of game files work, where are they on my comp?? thanks!

Most games put their saved game files either in the My documents folder or in the programs install folder. Each game is different so you will need to look for them.
