External hard drive slows down after 1gb

then drops down to really slow.

Any ideas? ( i have turned off the caching settings)

Use Task Manager and Resource Monitor to observe system performance.

Very likely that some other application or process is launching and causing a bottleneck.

Hopefully that event will be very detectable with respect to the drop shown in the images.
