External hard drive transfer game

Hi there, I recently purchased 2 games and installed them on my external hard drive at college (as the internet is 10x better than that at home) and I was wonder how I would transfer them to my steam library so that it shows that they are also installed. I tried moving them over to my steam folder, and they aren't showing as downloaded/installed so every time I try to run it, it will try to re-download. Any help?

Once they are copied over, right click on the game and go to properties i think. There should be an option to Check Game Content.
