External hard drive transfer speeds at 0 bytes/s

I just bought an 8TB Seagate BackupPlus Hub to transfer all of my files from my other hard drives but already when transferring about 1.24TB from a FreeAgent Drive, the speed is at 0 bytes/s and only goes up higher than that to about 300kb for a few seconds before dropping back down to 0 every few minutes. I'm really not sure what to do and desperate looking for advice on how to fix this. Thanks!

Backup software might be the problem, maybe you're compressing, maybe you're heavily fragmented, or all your files are <4kb. Could be many things. Transfer smaller chunks at a time, or use real software like rsync, or just wait and be patient.
