Have an external wd hdd that all of a sudden failed to initialize. Thought it was due to physical damage, but when I copied that disc (used minitool partition wizard) onto a different external hdd, that one also now is failing to initialize.

Is this a virus? Any idea on how to fix? Do I need to partition both drives now?

Thanks for your help.

If thet drive has dropped, you can kiss that drive goodbye - drill holes thru it, or use it for shooting target, and dispose of it properly. There should be nothing wrong with the second drive - any partition manager should be able to clear it and reformat.
The drive is not recognized in disk management. When i go to initialize the disk, get an error the a fatal hardware error has occurred.

I agree, duplicated garbage..at the time though, thought the drive stopped working as it was accidentally dropped. Now I know that was not the cause, it is some sort of malware.

So guess my question is, how do I remove said malware on both of these now defunct external hard drives.
