If you can see it connected but you can't access it, then I have a solution.
See its drive letter (ex g)
Open command prompt with admin rights and execute this command:
chkdsk x: /f /r
you need to replace x with your externals' drive letter
let it work for 1-3 days and tada, disk repaired
