I have a 1.5 Tb external hard drive that keeps reformating after some time.I tried scanning it but no errors were found (however i tried on my Linux Os laptop and it said there are a few errors 😵). Another thing this hard drive fails to do is to format the NTFS but when i try to format it to exFat, it does it right away.the OTHER problem is it not copying too many files/ large files. When i try to paste some videos or music/ important files, it will just stop during the transfering process and if i try canceling or stopping it then it will just continue to load everlasting which causes me to just eject it without safely removing it from the pc.

Are you saying it reformats itself without any user input? That's a new one on me.

Test it with SeaTools: http://www.seagate.com/gb/en/support/downloads/item/seatools-win-master/
Hi there Madara Uchiha16,

Do you mean that the drive loses partitions or file system? Otherwise, I would agree with Phillip Corcoran and say that this is really strange.
Anyway, you need to back up the data stored on the drive until you resolve the issue. After that, it will not hurt to change the cable as well as the USB port. Did you scan the drive with some tool that provided S.M.A.R.T data? If not, you can do that.
Bad sectors are the usual cause of such transfer stops.
