External Hard Drive

I want to retrieve my files. However the port to my 1T external hard drive is off completely. What do I do?

It cant because the input where you push the usb cable in my external hard drive is off completely

Is it possible to remove the HDD from the enclosure? And if so, does the HDD contain STANDARD SATA data/power connectors?
If so, could you install the HDD internally in your system (assuming you're working with a desktop PC)?
Or install it in another USB external enclosure?
