External Hard drive

Hey I bought an external hard off of somebody on offer up but when It plugged it in my computer it only shows me that it’s few megabytes in space but it’s a 4tb but when I plugged up on my Xbox one it shows 4tb but I cant format it on there . When i click the option button it only showing other stuffs but doesn’t say format on my Xbox one please I need help. I can use the hard drive because it’s space is low when it shouldn’t
