External hard drives

I already have an external hard drive connected to my laptop. My question is can I connect a 2nd external hard drive at the same time to use.

Yes you can.

The only time i have seen issues with this was some old firewire drives that did not work together.

I have multiple usb flash drives and hard drives all on at once(they all fall under mass storage.).
