External hard drives

I am going to be getting an external hard drive for my laptop. I have heard Western Digital is pretty good. What are the differences in these 3?

The first one is a little fancier than the last with its front display. The middle one is older and hence has more customer reviews to examine - seems like a good unit. EXCEPT one reviewer says WD Tech Support called this one of their "older" drives and indicates support might be poor, especially in Win 7.
