External Hardrive Disconnecting Then Reconnect

Hello there. I have a external hardrive connected to a 3.0 USB port. When I download something or update something that is from the external drive it disconnects then reconnects. So is it because the is wire messed up or something is wrong with the drive itself?

Normally an issue with the connection - check all power and data connections. Also make sure you have the latest drivers.

It does seem like you are most probably encountering an issue with your USB cable. I'd recommend you to try plugging the external with a different one and in a different USB port on your computer and see how it will react to that. If you have another computer around you, I'd try connecting the HDD there as well.

Alright ill go order another cable and ill see if that fixes it

Alright so I bought it and its still having the same problem. I have all drivers updated but there was no 3.0 driver

I'd strongly recommend you to check your computer/motherboard manufacturer's website for the driver updates. You should be relying on those, rather than the ones from Windows Updates. Search the website for your motherboard (PC) or laptop model and see all the available downloads. Make sure you have the USB drivers updated from there.
