Hey there, kdennis.

If the drive is working fine with the other computer, I'd recommend that you backup everything important you have on it. After that go ahead and try the drive with a different USB cable (not longer than 12"), to see if the same thing happens. Also try different USB ports on the computer the drive is not working with. You could also uninstall it from Device Manager and connect it again to see if Windows installs its drivers again. I'd also suggest that you reinstall/update the USB drivers as well.
After you've backed your data it would be nice if you download a diagnostic tool to test the drive and see if any errors pop-up.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.

Hey Boogieman_WD,

Thx for answer so fast! I have evrything done what you said. But it is still not working. I have a second hd (just the same) and this works fine. this hd what not works on my laptop, is well working on a different pc. i find nothing in device manager but thats not the problem because the other hd is well working. there is also no light so i think the answer is what you said backup quickly all data and this hd only use on the other pc where these well works 🙂 sorry for my broken english! and again thx for answer my question.

No worries mate. Well the different HDD should have similar power consumption, but it sounds like the laptop can't power the external drive, if the LED indicator is not on and the drive is not recognized. You've tried different USB ports on the laptop right? Also you could try reinstalling/updating the USB drivers of the laptop to see if this helps with the issue. Don't forget to run a diagnostic tool, to make sure that the HDD is working properly.

Cheers,
