last couple of months my everyday myPassport external has been acting up. Sometimes it worked fine and other times it powers on, but system can't recognize, tried 2 other cables from WD, ubuntu and windows laptops, same problem.
It could work 3 times in a row and then dead for a week. it makes sound and I can hear parts are moving . light is either always on or slowly blinking.
also hangs the system startup at the very same place windows loading screen.
below is the last SMART run. tried different applications including WD and all said smart was OK .
I have it backed up, so what is my move here . do I open it or try one more time repartitioning if it powers on properly?!
