External HDD Case

Hi

I plan to bin my HP DV9000 which has two Hitachi EK250 250Gb SATA hard drives. I have extracted these from laptops before and inserted them into a standard external USB case, but, while these drives are labelled as SATA they seem to have PATA pins rather than the standard SATA teeth. Any advice on finding the right case or adapter? Thanks.

Some laptop HDDs have a small converter PCB that physically adapts the drive's standard SATA connectors to the motherboard's own proprietary connector. If yours is one of these, then simply pull on the adapter to remove it.
