Hi, everyone i got a WD MyBook 2TB USB 3.0 (with power cord and usb cable ) and for few weeks i cannot delete or copy file from hdd to usb or other location, or detele them but i can still access them (like my 3ds max collection i can open every files in 3ds max, also the movies i can open but cannot delete them)
I scan entire hdd with bitdefender 2017 and i got no virus log.
the hdd has 2 partion one NTFS and other FAT32 and the only problems are in NTFS.
Sometimes when i try to access different folders explorer goes to "not responding" but if i leave it i can access it after few minutes 2-5-10 minutes.
also sometimes explorer stuck when maximize and minimize the window with the drive

Any idea why is this happening?

A drive can fail the day you buy it or last for 10 years, they are not perfect nor guaranteed to be good 100% based on age. 3 years is about the major point in a hard drive lifespan where they start to...
From the folder issue when accessing, sounds like a failing hard drive.

What exactly happens when you try to copy the files or delete them? Have you tried on another computer or operating system? Try accessing the files on a Linux Live Boot disk and see if you can copy them.

in this morning after several shut downs, i put the hard drive inside the pc, and when windows start on loading screen i get scanning and fixing drive F:, and now everything works like a charm, i can copy delete all the files....
how can i scan it for bads? to see if the problem is still there?

before when i try to delete i get 0bytes/s or the file destination cannot be reach or something like this.

Hi, now when i use task manager it stays at 100% percent and the process are very slow...

now its not, i open the case and put it directly via sata like a normal drive. any process is slower it works good at the begin then now its stay at 100% moving data its very slow like 100kb/s-300kb/s

Is the data readable when the drive is attached internally? It's strange, as this is a hardware encrypted model. This means that you shouldn't be able to retrieve your data, if the drive is not in the enclosure.

So, my suggestion would be to: Put back the drive into the original enclosure and try to access it under Ubuntu. You will need a CD or a flash drive, so you can boot Ubuntu (just boot don't install it). If the drive is accessible, back up all the data that you need, as the drive is most probably failing.

Once you do that, switch back to Win and test the drive.

Hi, sorry for late respond i was in holiday. i can read my data when its connect directly via sata, its a wd green hdd inside the case. with the direct method i can access few more files, and its more faster on reading than with 3.0 usb

I split in new partition one has 500fb and full of bads and other one of 700gb and looks good and another 500gb( was here before and everything looks good) I will see what's happened next ... I'm looking for a replacement but, I have this drive for 3 years and already falling... I don't know what to believe on wd right now

I work on hundreds of systems over the years and have to replace hard drives as the main fix that needs to be done to systems, outside of someone physically damaging the computer like a laptop screen. The brand often does not matter, but WD is one of the top ones. I'd stay away from HGST, almost every laptop drive I had to replace was that model.
