I have a 2 TB external HDD with about 1.3 TB of data in it-predominantly videos and pictures. Since yesterday my laptop and other laptops and desktops i tried are unable to get into its folders or read files on it. If I click properties for the HDD , it still shows 1.24 TB data. I can enter into the HDD as well....but the folders could not be opened. Its giving a not accessible or available error. Screenshot attached. All the folders you see on the screenshot gives this error. None of the (few) files you can see there will open or could be copied into my laptop. And I can't copy anything into my HDD as well. I created an Ubuntu bootable pen drive and tried to access the HDD and copy its contents. While going from within UBuntu, I still could not copy anything from the HDD, but was able to go into those folders for one level. But then I couldn't access any files or folders within still !!! (For eg: As you can see from the screenshots....one of the folders there is named "MOVIES". I could go inside MOVIES using Ubuntu....but couldn't see any files within it , it was empty).
I tried Ease US Recovery.....and it detected nothing.....screenshots shown.

Yet...if i connect this HDD to my TV, I can access all folders and play all videos and see all images.

Please help...what can I do?

Not familiar with your system, but on my system I have to 'register' my USB on my video system before I can use it.
If that is not how your system works then I am probably wrong.

Has it ever worked before and this has just suddenly happened?

Its NTFS.....Last week a ran a scan on it with few recovery softwares...and magically the files are visible and readable now

I tried to copy the files on to a new HDD.....partly successfull....but some of the files cannot be copied or moved.....probably the files are corrupted or are on bad sectors of the HDD
