External HDD fpr backups- 2,5" or 3,5" HDD?

What device is better for external (USB) HDD backups? -2,5" or 3,5" HDD?
I wanted to buy 3,5 because its cheaper but then i read the 3,5 inches ones are slightly less reliable than the 2,5 inch ones. Is it true? Which one should i buy?

No, a 3.5" drive is not slightly less reliable than a 2.5" drive.
Whoever told you this has no clue.

Get either, in whatever GB size fits your budget and need.
