external hdd isn't detected

when i plug my external hdd I hear the windows notification sound that it is pluged , but it doesn't show up though i can see it in disc management , I tried updating the driver then restarting the pc but nothing happens .
i hope you guys can help me solve this problem and thanks in advance (please don't tell me to format it because i got over 450gb of importent data on it) .

Now, assuming that important does not mean worth a few hundred bucks for the professionals and you are willing to risk losing it all, let's see if I can give you some assistance.

1. What is the model of hard drive?
2. Did you try a different USB cable?
3. Did you try connecting to a different computer?

I forgot to tell you that the driver works perfectly on other pcs , it's "Imation Apollo UX" and i tried all my USB ports .

about the name , windows tells me it's "Imation Apollo UX" but i'm not sure because i got it from a friend a few months ago
