I have an 500gb external HDD from Toshiba that used to be in a laptop long time ago
It was working normally or at least I think so because there wasn't anything on it but it said that 10 gb were used (maybe the files were hidden) I formatted it but I havent tried to copy any files to it
Today I opened it just out of curiosity and when I plugged it in it made a strange noise (like it was scratching the platter
Here's the video of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsDf1VKq3kI

Hey there, Ivan.

Basically as soon as you've opened the drive and exposed its platters, you've doomed the HDD. You should never ever open an HDD because even a single dust particle is enough to damage the platters. This is done only in "clean rooms": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleanroom.
