Will my External HDD work on my galaxy s4 via OTG cable.. i hav connected a usb mouse to the phone and it works fine but I'm skeptical about a hard drive, as it requires more power to turn ON etc... will it damage my phone , or will it corrupt my HDD if such a connection to the phone is done so? also in which format should the hard drive be? Ex-fat or NTFS... 🙂

Solution
1) If its a USB drive like a Go drive (the small ones) Yes it will work. You may need to get a program that can mount it if its NTFS like Pargon NTFS Mount which I use on my Motorolla Razr Maxx HD. I plug in my 160GB external without issue. Yes it will drain the battery quicker but you won't have any issues. Some phones regardless if its NTFS/Fat/Ext3 and so on you will STILL need to use a program the mount it. Again I use Pargron NTFS&HFS

IT DOES REQUITE ROOT! I would try using Fat32 first. To format Fat in Windows Vista and up you need to open up a Command Prompt and then type

format /FS:FAT32 X:

Where X is the drive letter of the external drive. Now this WILL erase...

Where X is the drive letter of the external drive. Now this WILL erase everything so make sure its all off.

If that doesn't mount (May have to go into Settings --> Storage -> and Mount it. Also you MAY need Root to access the drive too. It will show up as USBDISK0 (on my asus Tablet) or on my phone it shows up as USBDISK_1.1.1

Hope that helps
