Question External M.2 SSD Enclosure changes the drive's ID to the enclosure ID - - is there an enclosure that doesn't do that ?

I have a TUF Gaming External SSD Enclosure for my Samsung 990 PRO M.2 SSD.

When connected to my PC, the Samsung SSD is shown as "TUF ESD-T1A 1.00", not Samsung 990 PRO...

This causes a lot of problems and restricts what i can use the drive for.

Are there any M.2 SSD enclosures that allow the actual SSD ID to pass through?

None that i know of.

Those external cases all have control unit (PCB) in them, that identifies them as external add-ons. To get rid of their ID, you need direct connection to the M.2 slot. E.g riser cable.

Open the Disk Management window and expand so all can be seen and read.

I would image, for example, that Samsung Magician won't read the SSD. I have a similar enclosure that does the same.
