External monitor won't work in SAFE mode

I have a virus and trying to get my laptop to work in SAFE mode TO FIX IT BUT MY LAPTOP monitor IS broken so I use an external monitor but now I can't get that to work.

Can u remove the infected HDD and remove the virus on another PC?

Do you have a setting in BIOS to enable the external monitor?

You probably have the laptop running open when you try to get to the second screen. If it's not in a docking station and it IS closed, turn on the laptop, then soon at it start up, close the lid. It should run just fine after that on the external monitor.

I had the same problem and I did what you said hang-the-9 but my external monitor is still not working. The screen is just black and my laptop lid is closed. Please help
